Floor Work in Shibari

Tying begins on the floor – where technique meets body awareness.
In Shibari, it’s not just about knots and patterns, but above all about safe guiding and shaping the body. Every movement with the rope is also a movement with the other person – an invitation, a reaction, a dialogue without words. The art of body manipulation is central here: How can I guide someone through tension, touch, and positioning – not by forcing, but with empathy and clarity?

It is especially on the floor that this subtle technique can be best learned and refined. This is where precise control, sensitive timing, and the ability to understand and deliberately use your influence on your partner’s body are key. The first steps into this world can feel overwhelming – there is so much to discover, so many small details that make all the difference. But that’s exactly what makes this beginning so exciting: to create more depth and connection with every grip and every movement.

In this workshop, you will learn to use the rope as a tool to evoke emotions, establish connection, and communicate nonverbally through the rope.

No complicated knots or elaborate ties are required for this.

I want to show you in this workshop how much is possible with just a single rope, the right technique, and a basic understanding of body guidance.

We begin with a theoretical part where we talk about the philosophy of tying, about consent as the most important foundation, and about intentions – in other words, how we can find a harmonious path together with our partner.
This is followed by the practical part: we start with a simple entry knot, learn how to move our partner efficiently, and how to communicate effectively with just one rope.

Important Information:

• One rope (1–3 pieces) is needed (can be purchased on-site if not available)

• Comfortable clothing (Please do not tie in streetwear)

• Bring something to take notes

• This workshop forms the foundation for follow-up courses and is required to attend them
