This evening is thoughtfully designed for practicing uplines and harnesses - with a clear focus on safe, grounded play.
While the techniques we will explore are inspired by the principles of suspension, everything will take place on the floor. This allows us to develop and refine key elements of rope handling, body mechanics, and communication without the added complexity and risks of full suspension.
Welcome to the heart of Basel! Our charming studio is just a 5-minute walk from Basel SBB train station and 30 minutes from the airport. This workshop is best suited for those who are comfortable handling rope, have a basic understanding of anatomy, and have already explored various harnesses in workshop settings. It is aimed at those who enjoy (or want to explore) dynamic movement in, and an active approach to, rope. Those already tying at an advanced level will encounter new ways to tie their existing harnesses and will be able to review and challenge their preexisting rope handling skills.

Michael Ropeknight ties with rope since his teens and has later on been able to experience different styles of Shibari on various journeys to Japan. He studied with several well-known japanese and western Bakushi before becoming an official student of Osada Steve in 2012. Osada Steve was also the one who introduced him early on to Yukimura Haruki Sensei as he felt their way of communication is quite similar.
Workshop will be held in English.

Crabties are a bit of a unique proposition. They are part upper body and part lower body tie. You have to adapt to them, creating very different scenarios in comparison to more conventional structures. And exactly this is what makes them so interesting.
We will address anatomical and safety concerns and guide you through semi suspensions. Additionally we'll give some pointers on balancing these challenging shapes
Shinless futomomo
Over Dolfs years of tying he encountered many tying partners who had persistent shinpain in futomomo and weren't able to sustain them. Fem was initially able to be in futomomo when she started tying but has overtime lost the ability to be in them. Therefore they started labbing and experimenting with alternatives. After a period of trial and error they've found a suitable option that avoids the shin and functions like a regular futomomo. This pattern will be the focus of this workshop.
