Playing with Uplines on the Floor (Partial Training)

  • TwF Studio 131 Dornacherstrasse Basel, BS, 4053 Switzerland (map)

Partial Class Shibari

This evening is thoughtfully designed for practicing uplines and harnesses - with a clear focus on safe, grounded play.

While the techniques we will explore are inspired by the principles of suspension, everything will take place on the floor. This allows us to develop and refine key elements of rope handling, body mechanics, and communication without the added complexity and risks of full suspension.

Why is this important?
Shibari, especially when it approaches suspension-level intensity, requires a deep understanding of fundamental skills. These include not only technical tying proficiency but also essential soft skills such as risk awareness, body reading, and clear, empathetic communication with your partner.

Practicing these elements on the ground provides a safer, more accessible environment for building the confidence and competence needed to progress. It also allows you to become more attuned to your partner’s reactions, body language, and limits — all of which are crucial for creating a scene that is not only technically sound but also emotionally engaging and consensual.

This evening is intended for those who already have some foundational experience with shibari and are now ready to take their skills to the next level. Perhaps you’ve been practicing chest harnesses, single-column ties, or basic frictions — and now want to understand how these elements fit into more complex, dynamic ties that move toward suspension play.

You and your partner will work together to improve your rope flow, precision, and adaptability — all while maintaining a strong emphasis on safety, trust, and mutual enjoyment.

In summary:
If you're serious about progressing in rope and doing so in a responsible, rewarding way, then solidifying your fundamentals is not optional — it's essential. This evening is your opportunity to refine those foundations and grow as a rigger, model, or rope partner in a supportive and focused environment.
