Michael Ropeknight - Yukimura Study Group Yukimura Lv. 2 / 3

About the Study Group

Building on the principles introduced in the Ropeknights Yukimura I course (and subsequent courses based on it), this study group focuses on a deeper exploration of the essential characteristics of Yukimura’s Aibunawa and the specific core pillars of the Ropeknights philosophy.

We will explore new approaches to familiar patterns as well as introduce new techniques — with a special emphasis on deepening the understanding of the underlying soft skills. Personal development and the ability to better understand oneself and the partner lie at the heart of this work.

The topics and course progression will be strongly influenced by the participants' existing experience and motivation in this style.

About Michael Ropeknight

Michael Ropeknight had the opportunity to experience and study various Shibari styles during his trips to Japan. He studied under well-known Bakushi and became an official student of Osada Steve, who shortly thereafter introduced him to Yukimura Haruki Sensei.

Over the following years, Michael spent extensive time with both masters, deeply studying their techniques and philosophies.

Yukimura Sensei and Osada Steve described his exceptional emotional skills in working with his Shibari partners and his use of energetic components (Ki). Due to these outstanding strengths, both masters honored him by appointing him as an official instructor of their styles.

In 2024, Michael retired as an official Osada-Ryu instructor due to physical limitations that prevented him from teaching suspensions at the highest level. Since then, he has focused on his core competencies: deep communication and personal development for all involved in rope.

With this focus on Ropeknights Yukimura-Ryu, Michael brings valuable insights into the emotional and mental connection between partners, fostering the development of a mindful and conscious dynamic in Shibari.

In recent years, Ropeknight has further developed Yukimura-Ryu within a Western mindset, making it a cornerstone in the education of rope enthusiasts worldwide — just as Yukimura Sensei had expected of him.
